This IWC Schaffhausen Classic Reference 309 exemplifies a restrained early 1960s dress-watch design, featuring long applied markers, a clean minute-dot track, and a neatly proportioned small-seconds register. The steel case is marked "Staybrite" inside the caseback, with dimensions of 34mm by 41mm by 9mm, offering a balanced wrist presence. Caliber 88, IWC's small-seconds variant, shares a similar architecture to the renowned center-seconds Caliber 89 and is esteemed as a high-quality, durable manual-wind movement from that era. The dial has been professionally restored by a dial specialist using period-correct techniques, which is crucial for collector transparency, as original dial finish and print are major value drivers for vintage IWC.
