Why this watch.

Longines’ High-Frequency Seventies Spirit

Vintage Longines Ultra-Chron reference 8429 belongs to the brand’s early high-frequency wristwatch programme, introduced in 1966. Produced circa 1970, it is powered by the 17-jewel automatic calibre 431, combining centre seconds, a date and a 36,000-vph beat rate. The stainless-steel case frames a refurbished black dial with applied baton indexes and a date aperture at 3 o’clock. This is a focused expression of Longines’ technical ambition at the turn of the decade, with clean, purposeful styling that remains compelling to the contemporary collector.
