The Tissot Antimagnetique is a compelling example of Swiss wartime watchmaking, dating to approximately 1940–1941, during the early years of the Second World War. Its movement serial number, 1,103,716, supports this period attribution. Although there is no evidence that this particular watch was officially issued to military personnel, its black dial, luminous Arabic numerals and functional, highly legible layout strongly reflect the practical design language associated with watches produced during the war years.
Tissot introduced its pioneering Antimagnetique concept in 1930, at a time when magnetic fields generated by increasingly common electrical equipment posed a growing threat to the accuracy of mechanical watches. This historically significant model therefore represents an important stage in the development of anti-magnetic wristwatches.
The compact 31 mm case houses the dependable hand-wound Tissot caliber 27, a 15-jewel movement introduced in 1936 and widely respected for its robust and straightforward construction. The black dial features a traditional small-seconds register at 6 o’clock, aged luminous Arabic numerals and matching luminous hands, giving the watch a distinctive utilitarian character appropriate to its wartime origins.
Combining genuine Second World War-era provenance, early anti-magnetic technology and classic Swiss mechanical craftsmanship, this Tissot Antimagnetique is an evocative historical timepiece with strong collector appeal.

The gold case is flawless, the case back is perfect, and the dial has only 1 small imperfection (pictured in listing, expected). For a watch from 1982, this is amazing.
