Este reloj IWC Schaffhausen está impulsado por un movimiento de cuerda manual Calibre 73 que data de alrededor de 1915, como se establece a través del número de serie del movimiento. Originalmente producido para un reloj de bolsillo, ha sido posteriormente convertido para uso en la muñeca, presentando un importante ejemplo de la relojería de Schaffhausen del siglo XX en un formato contemporáneo.
El Calibre 73 también ocupa un lugar interesante en la historia más amplia que finalmente llevó al IWC Portugieser. Era la versión de esfera abierta, o Lépine, de la familia de movimientos de 17 líneas de IWC, mientras que el Calibre 74, estrechamente relacionado, era su contraparte cazador, o Savonnette. En 1939, IWC seleccionó el Calibre 74 para impulsar los primeros relojes Portugieser Referencia 325.
La esfera restaurada preserva el carácter de la época de la pieza, mientras que su sustancial movimiento de reloj de bolsillo y la conversión a reloj de pulsera crean una combinación distintiva de ingeniería histórica y usabilidad moderna. Ofrece a los coleccionistas una conexión tangible con la tradición de gran calibre que más tarde se volvería central para la identidad del IWC Portugieser.

The gold case is flawless, the case back is perfect, and the dial has only 1 small imperfection (pictured in listing, expected). For a watch from 1982, this is amazing.
