1917 IWC cal. 66 — pocket calibre reborn as a wristwatch
This watch carries an IWC finger-bridge pocket calibre (cal. 66) dated to 1917, presented as a tasteful pocket-to-wrist conversion. The ensemble pairs the period enamel dial and gilt Louis XVI hands with a large 47 mm steel case and exhibition back, revealing the early-20th-century finishing. The movement is a manual-wind, 16-jewel calibre running at 18,000 A/h, a design that later underpinned IWC’s Portugieser lineage. For a contemporary owner it offers authentic mechanical character and historical continuity in a wearable format, combining original movement architecture with practical wristwatch proportions.
