IWC Automatic Date, 1962
A restrained early-1960s IWC, this Automatic Date presents the era’s tasteful proportions and a stepped “pie-pan” chapter ring that animates the dial. The gold-capped case with a stainless-steel back pairs classic warmth with everyday durability, while the watch sits on a simple leather strap. At its heart is IWC’s cal. 8531 with the Pellaton pawl-winding system and a 21-jewel high-grade setup—an expression of Schaffhausen’s mid-century movement engineering. Freshly serviced in 08/2025, it offers a ready-to-wear example of period workmanship that resonates with collectors who favour authentic mechanical detail and refined design.
