Omega Electronic Genève, 1972

Introduced around 1972, the Omega Electronic Genève Chronometer ref. 198.029 sits at the crossroads of mechanical tradition and early electronic innovation. Its bold steel case and distinctive blue dial reflect the aesthetic of the early 1970s, while the signed acrylic crystal and textile strap preserve its period character. At the heart of the watch is the ESA 9164 tuning-fork movement from the f 300 Hz family, a technical precursor to modern quartz. For the contemporary collector, the piece illustrates a pivotal moment in horological transition and Omega’s experimentation with precision electronics.
