Denna IWC Schaffhausen-klocka drivs av en manuellt uppdragen Kaliber 73 rörelse daterad till cirka 1915, fastställd genom rörelsens serienummer. Ursprungligen tillverkad som fickur har den senare konverterats för handledsbärande och för in ett viktigt exempel på tidigt 1900-talets Schaffhausen-klocktillverkning i ett modernt format.
Kaliber 73 har också en intressant plats i den bredare historien som slutligen ledde till IWC Portugieser. Det var den öppna modellen, eller Lépine, versionen av IWC:s 17-linjerörelsefamilj, medan den nära besläktade Kaliber 74 var dess hunter, eller Savonnette, motsvarighet. År 1939 valde IWC kaliber 74 att driva de tidigaste Portugieser Referens 325-klockorna.
Den restaurerade urtavlan bevarar styckets tidskaraktär, medan dess substantiella fickursrörelse och handledsbärande konvertering skapar en distinkt kombination av historisk ingenjörskonst och modern bärbarhet. Det erbjuder samlare en påtaglig koppling till den tidiga stor-kaliber traditionen som senare skulle bli central för IWC Portugiesers identitet.

I am so happy with this purchase! Communication was super easy with EVW and they negotiated on price. Upon receiving the watch, I was simply stunned. The condition of restoration is incredible. The gold case is flawless, the case back is perfect, and the dial has only 1 small imperfection (pictured in listing, expected). For a watch from 1982, this is amazing. The Caliber 1110 movement is working very smoothly. The quick-set date is great, and the power reserve is too.
