Mid‑1940s Breitling two‑register chronograph
This Breitling Chronograph Ref. 178 dates to circa 1945 and shows the compact proportions and multiscale dial language of the brand’s pre‑Navitimer era. The silvered two‑register dial with syringe hands and honest patina sits in a 35 mm steel case with rectangular pushers and a signed crown, reflecting wartime‑era tool watch design. Powering the piece is a Venus 170 manual column‑wheel calibre with 17 jewels, recently serviced. For the contemporary collector it offers an authentic slice of mid‑century chronograph engineering and wearable vintage presence.
