Mid-Century Goldwork and Mechanical Poise
Vintage Longines design takes an expressive mid-century turn in this 1954 Diamond Dial reference 861-117, housed in a 14 ct gold case. Openwork scroll lugs frame its round form, while the champagne dial brings raised hour markers and a small-seconds register at 6 o’clock into a composed, formal arrangement. Beneath the dial, the hand-wound Longines calibre 22L, with 17 jewels, drives the subsidiary-seconds display. The meeting of decorative casework, restrained dial design and a purposeful manual movement gives this watch a particularly engaging place in a modern collection.
