Sheffield Antimagnetic Alarm — mid‑century mechanical alarm
Produced circa the 1960s, the Sheffield Antimagnetic Alarm pairs a classic mid‑century dress profile with a purpose‑driven alarm function. Its chrome/steel case and perforated stainless resonator back, marked TRIVERA, were designed to amplify the hammer‑struck alarm while the silver‑toned dial with applied numerals and winding indicators communicates the watch’s mechanical intent. At its heart sits the Baumgartner Frères BFG 90 manual caliber, a 17‑jewel, twin‑barrel construction that separates power for timekeeping and the alarm. For the contemporary collector, this watch represents a refined example of inventive post‑war Swiss alarm engineering and thoughtful functional design.
